Steve Lacey Masterclass Day Decoy lakes
July 28th 2014
50lbs of big carp
This was a special 50th birthday present from Steve’s wife April. The wonderful Decoy Lakes near Whittlesey in Cambridgeshire was the chosen venue. Diane the owner had kindly allowed him to use keepnets.
Steve with his first fish
It was a perfect morning, overcast with just a light northerly wind. I decided Elm lake would be a good choice.
just in the net
Pole in the margins was the method, loose feeding 4mm hard feed carp pellets with a 6mm banded pellet on the hook. Steve was soon catching carp almost every put in. The action never slowed and by 2pm he had reached his limit on both nets and was returning fish as he caught them. We left the bank at about 4pm, Steve having had one of his best days ever, I guess about 130lbs.
