Match report 2015 World Pairs

The World Pairs is fished in and around the Lakelands and Inland waterways of Ireland. This year 41 pairs were competing for the 10,000 euro first prize. Each pair fishes the same zone on a section rotation basis with each zone being split into 2 sections with a member of each pair in one of them.

On day one my pairs partner Darren Davies and I drew zone 1. I was on Horse Island which meant a boat ride. I had an almost perfect day catching 54 fish using a Browning window feeder at 46mts for 15,250 kg which was a zone win and 4th overall on the day. Darren won at Killadeas with 11,650 kg. It was a great start for both of us. Phil Jackson won the day with 18,120 kg.

Day 2 we were on Lough Scur. I drew the best section on the pumphouse and weighed 9,750 kg just over 200 fish at 6 mts for 3rd in my zone. Darren was plagued by pack but still managed just under 4 kg. Dean Barlow won the day with over 18 kg.

On day 3 we were on Lower Lough Erne. I drew a new section called Rock House and had a good day on the feeder catching 12,200 kg winning my section and also 2nd in the zone. Darren also had a good day weighing in just under 10 kg to win his section. Scott Russell won the day with 22,850 kg.

Day 4 was a tough day for me catching 100 small fish mainly on the feeder for just under 5 kg. Darren had a brilliant day catching over 15 kg on the pole to win the zone and 2nd overall on the day. Steve Ringer won the day with 15,550 kg beating Darren by 50 grams.

Day 5 was good for both of us. I won my section with just over 9 kg all on the feeder at 50 and 70 mts. Darren won the zone with 12,625 kg all roach on the pole. Phil Ringer after a horrific crash before the start won the day with a brilliant catch of roach on the feeder for over 28 kg.

Steve and Phil Ringer finished 1st overall and were crowned World Pairs Champions. Lee Addy and Paul Keeley were 2nd, Rod Scott and Michael Buchwalder were third. Darren and myself finished 4th overall.
