Andrew Williams Masterclass Day Westwood lakes

brilliant catch on a really tough day

brilliant catch on a really tough day

This was a special 38th birthday present from Andrew’s mum Brenda and dad John. The wonderful Westwood lakes near Boston in Lincolnshire was the chosen venue.

It was a really cold frosty spring morning with moderate north easterly wind. Hawk lake had been producing some fish despite the really low water temperatures so we decided to fish there.

Pole was the chosen method, one swim in the deep water at about 10 mts plus one just going up the far shelf with another in the real shallow water tight to the far bank.

Loose feeding red maggots on the far 2 swims with double red maggot on the hook soon produced some big ide. The deep line was fed with small balls of groundbait, packed with chopped worms and maggots plus some well soaked 2mm carp pellets, switching between the 3 lines kept the fish coming in the really difficult conditions with carp, F1’s and even a barbel coming from the deep water.

We left the bank at about 4pm Andrew having caught over 50lbs of fish a brilliant weight on a really tough day.

Sean Hickey Masterclass Day Decoy Lakes

This was a special birthday present from Sean’s wife Gillian. His dad Mike had also come along for the day. The wonderful Decoy Lakes near Whittlesey in Cambridgeshire was the chosen venue.

It was a warm spring morning with a light westerly wind. It was a Saturday and the fishery was very busy. Oak lake was free and had been fishing very well, so I decided we would go there.

Pole in the deep margins was the chosen method. It was Sean’s first time with a pole but he was soon catching, loose feeding 4mm Van Den Eynde hard feed carp pellets, with a 4mm hard pellet on a banded hook. Mike also was catching quality carp. It was an all action day without any quiet spells.

We left the bank just after 4pm Sean having caught just over 100lbs of carp. Mike also had a very similar weight.

2 50lb nets of fish, brilliant catch Clive

This was a special 50th birthday present from Clive’s wife Evi. The wonderful Decoy lakes near Whittlesey in Cambridgeshire was the chosen venue.

It was a warm morning with a light westerly wind. I decided that Elm lake would be a good choice.

Pole was the chosen method. Clive started at 4mts in the deep margins loose feeding with 4mm Van Den Eynde hard feed carp pellets with a 6mm banded pellet on the hook. It only took about 4 minutes to hook into the first fish a 4lb mirror carp. After that the action was nonstop. A switch to fishing up in the water at 10mts produced a good run of F1’s and carp. By 2 pm Clive had reached the maximum 50lb in each keepnet and was retuning fish as he caught them.

We left the bank at about 3.30 pm and I guess Clive had caught close to 130lbs.

Paul Wilson & David Wood Masterclass Day Cross Drove Fishery

27.06.2016

Well done, Paul!

Well done, Paul!

This was a combined Christmas present from Paul’s wife Lauren for Paul and her dad David. The beautiful Cross Drove Fishery near Hockwold in Cambridgeshire was the chosen venue.

It was a warm summer morning with a moderate westerly wind. Both anglers had been out with me before. David likes to fish with his 50 year old split cane rod. Paul selected the pole. Soon both anglers were catching well. David was loose feeding sweetcorn with corn on the hook. Paul was feeding 2mm soft feed carp pellets with a small pot on the pole, with a 4mm expander pellet on the hook.

We left the bank at about 4.30 pm David having caught about 20lbs and Paul close to 30lbs.

Henry Sadler Masterclass Day Decoy Lakes

brilliant catch Henry

brilliant catch Henry

This was a special Christmas present from Henry’s wife Pat. His long time fishing friends Billy Bowsher and Roger Aniszewski had also helped to arrange the present and come along for the day. The wonderful Decoy Lakes near Whittlesey in Cambridgeshire was the chosen venue.

It was a cool morning with a strong westerly wind and the threat of rain later, not really the weather you expect in late June. The early pegs on Cedar lake offered some protection from the strong wind, so I decided we would fish there.

Pole at 5mts was the chosen method for all 3 anglers, loose feeding 4mm hard feed Van Den Eynde carp pellets with a 4mm banded pellet on the hook. They were all soon catching well. Billy’s swim was full of quality barbell. Henry was catching some big carp and Roger had borrowed one of my poles and was also catching well.

We left the bank at about 3.30 pm Henry and Billy both having caught over 100lbs and Roger considering it was his first time with a pole a creditable 70lbs.
