John Hoyes Masterclass Day Chestnut Pool (08.10.2010)
This was a special birthday present from the family: Mum, Andrew, Sinead, Chris & Angela. Chestnut Pool near Biggleswade in Bedfordshire was the chosen venue. His son Andrew had also come along for the day.
an early 2lb bream for John
It was a beautiful autumn day. John loves to fish the feeder so we decided to fish a method feeder up to the island from pegs 4 and 5.
Andrew was into a carp with his first cast. John meanwhile hooked into a good bream. Hookbait was a banded 8mm Van Den Eynde carp pellet, although it was a perfect day, the carp just would not feed. This gave the skimmers and bream time to feed and they came to the net at regular intervals. Andrew then set up a waggler for the roach and perch. Loose feeding with maggots he was getting a fish every cast.
a small bream for Andrew
I left the bank at about 4.30pm. Both anglers decided to fish on looking for those elusive carp. Andrew emailed me to say he caught a really good roach after I left, but no carp.
