Paul Wilson with friends Mike Stacey and Dave Wood Masterclass day at Cross Drove Fishery
This was a special 36th birthday present from Paul’s wife Lauren. The beautiful Cross Drove Fishery was the chosen venue. Matches here are usually won with more than 60lbs and pleasure fishing is always great.
Pauls first fish a brown goldfish
Paul was keen to try out his new pole, so we set up to fish for carp at 10 metres, feeding every cast with a small pot on the pole with maggots and 2mm Van Den Eynde carp pellets as feed. Double maggot on the hook soon resulted in early action with the hard fighting brown goldfish.

Mike was also catching using similar tactics. Dave was fishing in the margins with his split cane rod loose feeding with maggots and pellets using maggots on the hook. He also was soon catching brown goldfish and a good tench was also netted.
Dave into his first fish (yes it’s a split cane rod!!!)
Paul switched to Van Den Eynde Jellets on the hook and this resulted in a late run of big F1′s, and despite the rain, it did not seem to dampen anyone’s spirits. We left the bank at about 4pm, Paul having caught well over 50lbs of fish.

Not bad for his first try at pole fishing.
